AAPS Chapter Coordinator Meets Newt Gingrich On Wednesday, March 16th in San Diego at the Westin Gaslamp Quarter Hotel, a room packed with local San Diego community leaders listened to the former Speaker of the House’s views on the US Government and the current economic environment. Gingrich, an acknowledged historian and author on American history and politics, reviewed the strong faith this country’s framers possessed as they put pen to paper codifying the documents that guide all aspects of our society today. “One Nation Under God” and “In God We Trust,” firmly a part of American tradition, exemplify the founding fathers’ belief that the rights we own are not bestowed by our fellow human beings but a higher source.
Gingrich discussed the financial budgetary crisis perpetrated by the far left politicians in Washington, the same individuals aggressively working to remove references to God from all aspects of government and public life. According to Dr. Wayne Iverson, who attended the presentation, “It is clear that the far left’s goal is to thwart freedom of religion in our institutions and the public square.” There was no mention of whether the former Speaker had any intention to run for President of the United States in 2012. He humbly admitted he “was not a perfect vessel” but believed all Americans, including himself, should stand in opposition to the Democrat’s misguided direction and give their utmost to restore America. He acknowledged his strong personal belief in God and how his religion has helped him to understand the role of God in our society. Woody Woodrum, who is active in California politics and a former candidate for the US House of Representatives, said, “Newt Gingrich is considered one of the top candidates for President in 2012.” Dr. Iverson added, “As people start to line up on the right side of the aisle for the 2012 race for President of the United States, one thing is certain. If Newt Gingrich enters the race there will be a very high bar the other candidates will have to meet.” The speaking engagement at the Westin was sponsored by Renewing American Leadership as a community service and not as a candidate endorsement. Dr. Jim Garlow, Pastor of Skyline Church in La Mesa, California, who was both passionate and enthusiastic, was the moderator. |
